 Heart
Shaped Rocks Interactive CD-ROM
An
educational CD-ROM developed to attempt to demystify organ donation and
transplantation, and educate people on this rapidly advancing medical
technology. The hope of this project was to increase awareness so that
more people will make a choice to donate their organs, and talk to their
family members about their decision.
 The
CD-ROM includes the history and facts of organ donation and transplantation,
associated myths, digitized video interviews with heart transplant survivors,
stories from organ recipients.
The CD also
chronicles, via a very personal journal, one heart recipient's caregiver
as she stumbles through the difficult process of transplantation.
 The
conceptual design for this project was based on nature and the natural
geologic process that occurs when mountains erode into rocks, then into
magma burning in the center of the earth, and rise again as mountains.
People no
longer own, or need, their physical bodies and their organs once they're
gone. They belong to nature, and organ donation makes sense.
